Clitoropexy

Clitoropexy is a procedure recommended for patients with clitoromegaly enlargement of the clitoris) or to lift a drooping or protruding clitoris. These clitoropexy before and after photos can show you how an enlarged clitoris looks, as well as the outcome of the procedure to reduce the size.

What is clitoropexy?

This surgical operation elevates the erectile tissue of the clitoris, which then allows the clitoral hood to provide better coverage of the clitoris itself resulting in a less exposed clitoris. The elevation will also help those women who have a sagging or drooping clitoris.

How does clitoropexy affect having sex?

This does not affect the function or sensitivity of the clitoris in any way.

How clitoropexy works:

Clitoropexy is performed in our in office surgical suite under local and oral anesthetic. The procedure can be completed in about an hour.

On the day of your procedure you will be prescribed medications to take prior to arriving to your procedure. You will need a friend or family member to drive you as you will not be able to drive yourself home due to the medications.

Once you arrive, we will get you comfortable and prepped. Most patients fall asleep during this procedure. You will have external sutures present postoperatively. The sutures will dissolve between 4 and 6 weeks.  We recommend taking about 1 week off of work with minimal restrictions afterwards. We do strictly implement vaginal rest for 6 weeks post procedure.

Clitoral hood reduction is typically performed at the time of the clitoropexy in order to remove excessive tissue that may be present. These procedures can be and are often combined with labiaplasty, prolapse and vaginal rejuvenation procedures as well.

Book An Appointment

It's never "fun" to need surgery for a urogynecologic problem. But Dr. Shashoua, Kristin Longshore, ANP, medical assistant Marissa and the rest of the staff made the entire experience (diagnosis through postop care) a positive one. At all points, I was treated with respect and caring. My postop pain was managed well. No question went unanswered - even the ones that may have seemed small. They took the time to listen to any concerns I had and included my husband as a member of the care team.

I'm not in need of care any longer since all went well with my surgical procedure. I would not hesitate to refer other women for evaluation (and care) of female pelvic problems with Dr. Shashoua and his team. If you decide to see him, you'll experience what clinically competent, patient-centered care really feels like.
