Is Vaginal Rejuvenation the Procedure I Need?
This procedure is designed for patients who complain of diminished sensation or friction during intercourse. Vaginal Rejuvenation increases the tightness of the vaginal walls and opening to the vagina.
If a rectocele is also present, a formal rectocele repair is the procedure of choice.
A thorough exam and evaluation is needed prior to recommending any type of Vaginal Rejuvenation procedure. Often times a perineorrhaphy is the procedure of choice. During a perineorrhaphy, the body of the perineum is reconstructed by suturing the perineal musculature to its original attachment point and thereby restoring the tightness of the vaginal opening. In most patients, it is the opening to the vagina that provides sensation or friction during intercourse. If the vaginal walls are relaxed or loose, there is usually a prolapse present that needs to be addressed as part of the procedure.
