Arise Austin Medical Center

Austin Surgical Hospital has now become physician owned Arise Austin Medical Center (AAMC). The hospital is a 23 bed facility located at 3003 Bee Caves Road, across MoPac from Zilker Park. Unlike many physician owned hospitals, AAMC not only accepts all major insurance payers, but is also Medicare accredited, which means Medicare patients do not have to be screened. Physician owned hospitals offer an atmosphere of individualized care, a smaller patient-to-nurse ratio, and an attention to expense of providing medical care to patients, all leading to positive patient outcomes.

The hospital was built in 1997 by the Renaissance Women’s Center, and then became Austin Surgical Hospital when it was bought by OrthoNeuro Corp. Arise Healthcare recently purchase assets from Symbion, the majority stake holder of the hospital. Arise Healthcare also operates Cedar Park Surgery Center, Hays Surgery Center in Kyle, Stonegate Surgery Center in South Austin, and Medical Tower at River Place in the Four Points area. The first goal of Arise Healthcare is to serve patients in the hospital, but also to use their other facilities as departments to offer easily accessible and personal healthcare unique to individual community needs. AAMC invested in a da Vinci robot to better service urogynecology, urology and general surgery. Dr. Shashoua and the AU team, along with our patients, have been very happy with the level of care provided at AAMC.
