Austin Urogynecology was founded by Dr. George Shashoua in March, 2010. Dr. Shashoua is board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and specializes in treating urogynecological conditions including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and bowel incontinence. Prior to opening Austin Urogynecology, Dr. Shashoua practiced at Oakwood Women’s Center in Round Rock, Texas. Since beginning practice in 1995, Dr. Shashoua has been at the forefront of advancements in the medical and surgical treatment of prolapse and incontinence in women. In 2007, he began incorporating the da Vinci robot into his surgical practice which led to expertise in the da Vinci sacrocolpopexy procedure, the standard of care in mesh-augmented surgical treatment of prolapse. Advancements in the use of permanent mesh in combination with the selective use of the da Vinci robot have improved the rate of success of prolapse and incontinence procedures from less than 50% to greater than 90%.
The Vision of this practice is to treat each patient’s needs in an individualized way utilizing all the advances available.
Dr. Shashoua earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Texas. He attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his residency at the University of Florida Health Science Center at Jacksonville. Dr. Shashoua is Board Certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
Julianna Monceaux, FNP-C
Julianna is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner who joined Austin Urogynecology in 2019. She enjoys seeing patients in the office as well as assisting Dr. Shashoua in surgery. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing after graduating with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. She gained over 10 years of nursing experience before returning to earn her graduate degree from Texas State University’s St. David’s School of Nursing. Julianna is devoted to providing compassionate care that aims to assist each patient in achieving successful clinical outcomes.
Kristin Longshore, ANP-BC
Kristin Longshore is an Adult Health, Board Certified Nurse Practitioner who joined Austin Urogynecology in July of 2016. She graduated from the University of Florida with both her Bachelors and Masters of Science in nursing. After graduating she worked as a travel nurse and then as a Vascular Nurse Practitioner for 7 years. She recently relocated to Austin with an interest in providing quality clinical and surgical care in urogynecology.
Noel Lowe, BSN, RN
Noel is a Registered Nurse who graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2021 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. After graduation, she worked on a Medical Surgical unit of a hospital where she gained experience caring for patients with many different medical comorbidities and diagnoses. She was excited to fulfill her dreams of working in women’s health when she joined our team here at Austin Urogynecology in April 2022. During her free time, she loves to be with her friends, travel, and crochet!
Brittany
Brittany is the Practice Manager for Austin Urogynecology. She brings 16 years of direct patient care and management to our team! Brittany previously worked as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and lead clinical staff in general ophthalmology and pediatric ophthalmology. The skills Brittany has obtained with her ample clinical experience allows her to provide the highest quality of care to our patients and for our team! Brittany enjoys spending time with her family and friends, kayaking, camping, and living on her small farm with 2 dogs and 8 chickens.
Carol
Carol is the surgery and benefit coordinator for Dr. Shashoua, taking care of a patient’s needs for their upcoming surgery. Carol also assumes the role of assistant Practice Manager. She has been at the practice since inception and has always been the glue that keeps the team together. She is our interface with insurance companies, manages billing, and fills in as Practice Manager when Brittany is out of the office.
Partnership with Austin Urology Institute – Koushik Shaw, MD
Dr. Shashoua partners with Dr. Koushik Shaw of Austin Urology Institute. The relationship dates back to 2007 when both Dr. Shashoua and Dr. Shaw operated together in their early da Vinci days, and culminated in a formal partnership in March 2011. Together they were able to grow their practices and build a state of the art office that is custom fit for needs of the two specialties. The two physicians lean on each other’s expertise to provide comprehensive urologic and urogynecologic care.
